“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.” Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India puts it so aptly. And at our institution of Utpal Shanghvi Global School and Prabhavati Padamshi Soni International Junior College, we take these words not just seriously, but one step further. The PTA of USGS have given their students one more special day to remember; one more day that will go down in the memories of every USGSite as “Wow! What a wonderful day!”
‘Fly High!’ was earmarked as the theme for the day, reminding the students that they not only have a great day of fun and enjoyment before them, but also need to focus on looking and moving skyward to achieve their dreams, without forgetting that they should be heavily grounded to their family, school and life values.
Attractive and appealing decorations, be it from the entrance gate to the very top floors, were ideated and accomplished by the PTA and parent volunteers. Larger-than-life models showcased the outside and the insides of the school. Everyone put in that extra effort to make the learn-by-fun process so much more interesting.
The warm welcome to each student began with the theme of the day on display – a Jet Plane! A strong message to our visionaries – step into the future; go ahead and grow hand-in-hand with the latest technology. But each model had an equally strong message that technology should not make us move away from the need and importance of believing in oneself and one’s strengths, eating healthy, or the necessity of regular digital detox. A reminder that much should be worked at to recognise one’s self-worth and for one’s genuine health and happiness.
On the first floor foyer, the tiny tots of EY had a blast of the bubble show. However the fun was not confined just to the school building; a theme park adorned the school grounds – replete with bouncy rides and a mini ferris wheel for grades 2 to 7. For the senior students, there were team building activities.
The auditorium too did justice for Grades 2 to 7, where they enjoyed watching movies. What made it more special were the personalized movie tickets handed over to each student with their name and photo. Students can now use these mementos as bookmarks. No movie is a movie until one savours the must-have popcorn. However, no student went hungry for the movie show, having feasted on paneer rolls and cupcakes.
One needs to recall the pandemic that snatched away the childhood of students for two long weary years. But 2022 has witnessed a complete turnaround of events. And Children’s Day 2022 became a win-win situation for all students – thorough entertainment combined with focus on life skills, health and inner and physical well-being. A well-deserved and much-needed celebration made possible, thanks to the collective effort of the distinguished institution and the always-vibrant and most-happening PTA! Another successful event written in the history books of the USGS and the PTA team – a combination that truly believes in ‘FLY HIGH’!
