October 2021 heralded a new milestone in the already active academic year at USGS and PPSIJC. With the blessing of the state government, we were overjoyed to receive our little hearts back to school. As the students trickled inside after a long time, we could sense mixed feelings of excitement, joy and hesitancy. However, these mixed feelings soon pervaded into clear smiles of joy and mirth with the warm welcome and comfortable atmosphere of school; in the words of one of our students- ‘a place I can call my own’.

Even though our students have had more than a year of remote learning, they did not miss out on big milestones and crucial stages of learning development. Virtual learning was rendered fun and effective with the help of peer interaction activities, new teaching methods, advanced use of technology and appropriate utilisation of the home learning environment.

In spite of a fulfilling online year, we are excited to start in-person education. We are raring to go from Day 1 as we welcome our students back to school. The pandemic crisis has also provided a valuable opportunity for us to ‘Build Back Better’ than before towards a resilient, hybrid education system with students at the centre. Equipping students with skills to mitigate new problems and changed circumstances, while creating a holistic learning journey is the goal.
