At PPSIJC, the students are rigorously trained and provided with a strong foundation of skills required for pursuing and completing either the AS Level English Language Syllabus,9093 or the AS Level English General Paper,8021.
Initially, when the students join the AS Level, they are encouraged to develop and apply the key reading and writing skills needed for succeeding in the AS Level English Language course and at the same time they are equally allowed to explore understanding of different points of view on a topic, using information as evidence to support an argument and analysing and evaluating information; the key skills needed for succeeding in AS Level English General Paper.
Also, students are encouraged to read widely for general understanding and develop skills to identify relevant information from a variety of sources. Candidates develop a wide range of vocabulary in English and the ability to understand the use of English words and phrases in context. They understand how information is presented and how the English language is used to convey implicit as well as explicit meaning. This equips them adequately for both the English courses offered for examination series in February-March.Therefore, once they commence with A2 Level, they are allowed to make an informed choice, that is whether to appear for 9093 or 8021.
